When you start to lead a healthier life motivating yourself can be one of the hardest obstacles that you have to overcome.
Exercising and clean eating is definitely the way to go but if you aren’t in the right mindset, then these tasks can become almost impossible.
Creating a positive mindset will give you the motivation and commitment to overcome the majority of obstacles that life will throw at you. It will also make your journey fun and exciting as you learn new ways to challenge and nourish your body.
Your mindset is so important because it controls your thoughts, behavior and the decisions you make.
Being in a negative mindset will ultimately sabotage your efforts no matter how good your intentions are.
It is so important for you to realize you need to lead this healthier life for yourself. Not for anyone else but for your own personal benefit. It’s important to think of yourself as the priority. This may seem selfish but by you becoming healthy and fit, this will have a knock on effect with your family and friends.
No one can make you do something that you really don’t want to do because in the end you will just
resent them for it.
On this occasion it’s all about you.
Once you have that clear in your head then it’s time to set some goals. Goals can be such a powerful factor in leading a healthy life and keep you on the positive mindset track.
Set daily, weekly and monthly goals. They must be realistic and something that you will commit to.
For example your daily goals could be eating five meals each day including breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack and dinner. Perhaps adding a new fruit or vegetable to your snacks or meal time.
Your weekly goals could be working out 3 times each week, losing 2 pounds or adding an extra set in your workout.
Your monthly goals could be achieving all of your weekly goals, losing 8 pounds or looking hot in your vest top for the summer.
When you set goals, they have to come with rewards!
You must always treat yourself when you have achieved your weekly and monthly goals. This is always such fun and something that I have always done myself.
Your weekly rewards could be little things such as a new music download for your iPod or a new lipstick.
Your monthly reward could be a relaxing massage, tickets to a concert. Anything that will make you feel happy and help you associate your hard work with a rewarding treat instilling a “positive mindset” and leading you to success.
By doing this you will be better equipped to replace old habits with positive new habits that will take you on your journey to a new healthy and exciting lifestyle.
