Profile: Meghan Telpner (B.A.A., C.N.P., C.N.N.P.) is a certified nutritionist and holistic lifestyle consultant with a private practice in downtown Toronto and a client base that extends across Canada, around the United States, the Caribbean, the UK and as far reaching as Mozambique and Australia. Meghan provides an array of nutritional and lifestyle services including group-cooking parties, cupboard clean outs, grocery store tours, healthy eating workshops and one to one consultations. Meghan has also been appointed the official nutrition blogger for The National Post’s food and beverage site and was the featured lifestyle expert in Naturally Savvy TV’s October episode. Meghan also posts regularly for her own site Making Love In The Kitchen (www.meghantelpnerblog.com). She has become well recognized in her Queen West/Parkdale neighbourhood for her colourful presence, with her bicycle covered in flowers and a flag on the back boasting the phrase, “Feel Good? Feel Great!” Her approach is to use food as medicine, providing the body what it needs nutritionally, while incorporating lifestyle modifications to help bring the whole person into balance in order to achieve optimal health. Meghan inspires her clients to take an active role in their own healing. Her clients take great pride in their sense of empowerment when they see and feel the positive results of their efforts. Following a four-year struggle with digestive dis-ease, Meghan was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Trusting her instincts, she chose a completely holistic approach to reclaiming her health that included yoga, meditation, acupuncture, Chinese herbal remedies and nutritional modifications. Meghan is a firm believer and living proof that when both the mind and body are in balance, total health is the inevitable result. Prior to attending The Institute of Holistic Nutrition (IHN), where she graduated with First Class Honours, Meghan earned an Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts and was awarded the University Gold Medal from Ryerson University. She then spent several years working in client services in the high-stress world of advertising where she honed her skills in client management. In addition to her formal education, Meghan has studied the practice of Vedic Meditation under the counsel of Thom Knoles, a Maharishi or true master of Vedic pundits. Most recently, Meghan has broadened her understanding of the mind’s power over the body with courses on Vipassana meditation and the Mindful Wellness Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program, a practice initially conceived for pain management and to help individuals overcome stress induced chronic illness. Upon completion of her nutrition studies, Meghan spent three months working as the in-resident nutritionist at The BodyHoliday at LeSport, a mind/body spa resort in St. Lucia. Meghan is inspiring people to take a look at their lives and to start living their dreams now. Her enthusiasm, charisma, positive energy and dynamism are truly motivating and inspiring. Meghan excites people to make changes. These qualities make Meghan both a dynamic speaker in large and small groups, as well as a true motivator in one-on-one confidential consultations.
