As someone who works from home I realize I’m lucky to have the option to wear comfy clothes between the hours of 9 – 5pm. As a result I have higher standards for my loungewear.  If I’m going to spend all day in it, it’s got to be good. Thankfully mainstream’s acceptance of yoga apparel in recent years has inspired a world of great in loungewear apparel, leaving us – whether we wear it for work, play or just hanging around – with many options. Here are some favourites:

British Columbia-based lululemon capitalized on a comfort culture by creating “athletically hip” apparel designed for movement. Regardless of your sport the technical fabrics wick away moisture, leaving you chafe free. Special pant features like long legs to fit over sneakers and hidden pockets for your key or gym card are a major plus. (Available across Canada and United States, www.lululemon.com)

Exhale Yoga Wear is a line of Canadian-made apparel intended to wear anywhere. Made of a premium, two-way stretch Nylon/Lycra© micro fiber fabric, it’s so comfortable you may feel like you’re wearing nothing at all. The Exhale collection isn’t just limited to yoga pants and tops either. The label includes dresses and jackets fit for the office (at least on casual Friday). Best of all, Exhale Yoga Wear ranges from XS to P2 to accommodate women of all shapes and sizes. (Available at stores across Canada, www.exhaleyogawear.com)

Thankfully you don’t have to be active to enjoy the Dedicated Clothing line of active wear.  These super comfortable clothes are perfect for planes, the cottage or a shopping excursion with the girlfriends. Dedicated uses soft fabrics like bamboo, cotton and supplex, a moisture control cross between Nylon and Lycra. (www.dedicatedclothing.com)

If you’re looking for the ultimate in hipster loungewear, try a pair of skinny sweats by Adrienne Butikofer. This emerging Canadian designer has carved out a sexy sweat that’s easy on the eyes outside the house or the gym. The sweats come in 32” or 36” length inseams and a multitude of colours.
